Best of all Lookout Bushwalk, Springbrook National Park, QLD

Wow! Be transported into Tolkien’s Middle Earth in this bushwalk. The 350m walk to the lookout, which really does live up to its name, is something straight out of Lord of the Rings. Mysterious, misty and gloomy – but without the fear of giant spiders or wargs – this bushwalk is a truly unique experience.

On a day that was 28 degrees in Brisbane, Best of all Lookout measured 18 degrees. Add in the wind at the lookout, and it can get cold. And wet. So dress appropriately.

This track is amazing. There is a very mysterious, otherworldly feel to it. The damp, frequently cloud covered path adds to the Tolkienesque atmosphere. The bitumen and rock lined path could be pram and wheelchair accessible, however there is a small steep section and 2 steps to the viewing platform.

Life clinging to every little nook and cranny. Every rock, every tree, has moss growing on it. Everything here is quietly alive.

And the view – really is best of all. The lookout platform is technically in NSW with views to the east and south, encompassing the ocean to Mt Warning. The viewing platform is exposed to the elements and was very windy and noisy.

Best of all Lookout is a place to be seen to be believed. Combine it with other bushwalks – Twin Falls circuit and Purling Brook Falls – and spend a whole day at beautiful Springbrook.
