Queen Mary Falls is a spectacular 40m waterfall located 120km SW of Brisbane. It is one of the lowest effort to reward bushwalks around, rivalling Curtis Falls at Tamborine Mountain. The drive there, through stunning countryside, is an event in itself. Pack a picnic and plan to spend the day exploring The Falls Tourist Drive.

The Queen Mary Falls circuit can be walked either direction, depending on whether you want to go up or down the 107 stairs. Taking the leftmost track from the day-use area, going clockwise, the track will take you down the stairs, past the base of the falls and up a gentle gradient to the top of the falls. Taking the middle or right track from the day-use area, going anti-clockwise will take you past the top of the falls, down a gentle gradient, past the base of the falls and up the stairs.

The track is well signed and well maintained. After heavy rain parts of the track can get very boggy. On the plus side, after heavy rain the falls are even more impressive.

The track goes past various types of vegetation: sub-tropical rainforest, ferns, eucalypt forest. All of them beautiful!

Viewing platforms on either side of the falls provide ideal photo opportunities. After heavy rain prepare to get a bit wet from overspray at the base.

Spring Creek boasts many particularly pretty sections.

A bonus waterfall was passed – the result of a rainy week.

Delicate ferns cling to life in many nooks and crannies.

The 107 stairs are located on the furthest left track from the picnic area.

Extensive picnic grounds, BBQ facilities, well maintained toilets, and a café across the road make it easy to stay all day.
